Branch-specific underwriting
What carriers actually look at for Air Force applicants.
USAF pilots are usually well-treated by underwriters because of rigorous flight physical screening. Special Warfare (PJ, CCT, SR, TACP) faces SOF screening. Cyber and intel specialties underwrite cleanly. Support and maintenance specialties have no aviation flags.
Pilots and navigators
USAF aviators are typically the easiest aviation cases for major carriers. Rigorous flight physicals, documented flight hours, and clean medical histories generally produce Standard or Standard Plus issue. F-22, F-35, and other 5th-generation pilots underwrite the same as any other aviator.
Air Force Special Warfare
PJ, CCT, SR, and TACP are in the SOF underwriting bucket. Several carriers issue at Standard rates with disclosure; others exclude or table-rate. We screen the right carrier upfront.
Cyber and intelligence
USAF Cyber and ISR specialties are typically underwritten without any branch-specific flags. Compensation often supports higher coverage face amounts than infantry/maintenance peers.
Reserve and Air National Guard
Drilling Reserve/ANG members can carry SGLI through their service obligations. Civilian-side life insurance applications need to disclose drill status — most carriers underwrite cleanly with disclosure.
