Veteran life insurance

Life insurance for U.S. Air Force service members & veterans.

Air Force applicants — pilots, navigators, special operators, cyber, and support — represent some of the cleanest aviation underwriting cases in the industry. We route to carriers that handle aviation duties at Standard rates and have placed coverage at every major USAF installation.

Branch-specific underwriting

What carriers actually look at for Air Force applicants.

USAF pilots are usually well-treated by underwriters because of rigorous flight physical screening. Special Warfare (PJ, CCT, SR, TACP) faces SOF screening. Cyber and intel specialties underwrite cleanly. Support and maintenance specialties have no aviation flags.

Pilots and navigators

USAF aviators are typically the easiest aviation cases for major carriers. Rigorous flight physicals, documented flight hours, and clean medical histories generally produce Standard or Standard Plus issue. F-22, F-35, and other 5th-generation pilots underwrite the same as any other aviator.

Air Force Special Warfare

PJ, CCT, SR, and TACP are in the SOF underwriting bucket. Several carriers issue at Standard rates with disclosure; others exclude or table-rate. We screen the right carrier upfront.

Cyber and intelligence

USAF Cyber and ISR specialties are typically underwritten without any branch-specific flags. Compensation often supports higher coverage face amounts than infantry/maintenance peers.

Reserve and Air National Guard

Drilling Reserve/ANG members can carry SGLI through their service obligations. Civilian-side life insurance applications need to disclose drill status — most carriers underwrite cleanly with disclosure.

Air Force questions

Air Force life insurance FAQ

I'm a fighter pilot — does my flight status affect my premium?

Generally not. USAF pilots are well-treated by major carriers thanks to rigorous flight physicals. Disclosure of aircraft type, flight hours, and mission profile is required but rarely affects rate class.

I'm Reserve/ANG — am I eligible for SGLI/VGLI?

Yes. Drilling Reserve and ANG members carry SGLI through their service obligations and are eligible for VGLI on separation. SGLI premiums are deducted from drill pay.

What about Special Tactics Squadron operators?

STS Operators are in the SOF underwriting bucket. We route to carriers that underwrite this specialty at Standard rates rather than excluding.
